TIME PROJECT_MMM 2020The objective of our work is to contour the notion of time. To gently outline and guide the viewer (or the one experiencing the work) through a process of changing state. The linear process, that pushes us forward. The force or dimension we, humans have classified as time. Which enduces change.

Our world is encapsulated by dimensions or layers that lay within perfect balance or relation to each other. Time cannot exist without space. Neither is space present without time. They are one fabric. Time and space together create depth, and within this plane or perfect balance can bodies or matter reside. Each body experiences a different aspect of time as it encompasses a different part of space. Time remains relative to position. More so position with relation to surrounding bodies.

We have captured this process by casting ice in a gallery space, where our main goal is to create an embodied experience of time. Ice seemed to resonate well to this notion of showing how time and space act on body. Representing its changing state within a space.

We have coloured the ice and placed a cloth beneath it to capture its’ changing process like a photograph. We have used pigments with low lightfastness so that the traces on the cloth will also fade over the laps of time.

Our research is placed on a website, acting like a parallel space to the physical space of the work. This is a space documenting the laps of time. A space of the past.
